  • Avoidance (Flight): Attempting to avoid triggering the schema or feeling the associated emotions (e.g., social withdrawal, distractions).
  • Overcompensation (Counter-attacking): Acting in the opposite way to how the schema makes one feel, often in an extreme or defensive manner (e.g., aggression, perfectionism).
